PERFECT PREPARATION & APPLICATION: PREPARING INTERIOR WOODWORK
The following guidelines apply to the Estate® Eggshell, Dead Flat and Full Gloss paint finishes.
SURFACE PREPARATION Ensure the interior wood surface is sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, grease and any other contamination. Fill any cracks, holes and open joins with an appropriate flexible interior wood filler. FOR BARE WOOD SURFACES: Lightly sand the surface to improve the paint’s adhesion. Where required use Farrow & Ball Wood Knot & Resin Blocking Primer to patch prime knotty or resinous woods (Please refer to the Product Advice Sheet for more detailed information). Then apply a diluted first coat of Farrow & Ball Interior Wood Primer & Undercoat (20% water)in the correct color tone for your top coat, followed by one full coat. Allow a minimum of four hours drying time between coats FOR PREVIOUSLY PAINTED INTERIOR WOOD SURFACES: Sand back areas of paint that have peeled or blistered, to achieve a good ‘key’. Where required use Farrow & Ball Wood Knot & Resin Blocking Primer to patch prime knotty or resinous woods (Please refer to the Product Advice Sheet for more detailed information). Then apply one full coat of Farrow & Ball Interior Wood Primer & Undercoat in the correct color tone for your top coat. Allow a minimum of four hours drying time between coats. PAINT APPLICATION When using more than one tin of the same color, check that the batch numbers are the same (see the base of the tin). If not then mix the tins together before use. Stir paint thoroughly before use. Apply two coats using a brush or roller. On application of the final coat lay off the paint in a single direction. Estate® Eggshell, Dead Flat and Full Gloss are dry in two hours and can be recoated in four hours. Clean brushes and rollers with warm soapy water. |
